I learned to play harmonica on the side of the road while hitchhiking across America — and I haven’t stopped since. My first love was the blues. While living in Buenos Aires, I became immersed in the world of tango and discovered that tango and blues share the same roots of desperation.

Photography for me was literally an exercize in seeing the world — not just seeing it visually but “seeing” it as it is, understanding it. Through the miniscule aperture of a camera lens I have attempted to disrobe the greater world around me.

Since 2001, Kevin Carrel Footer’s writings are featured each Sunday in the Buenos Aires Herald. What began as short observations about life in Buenos Aires have become over the years an intensely personal and brutally honest account of his life couched in poetry.
